Sharing wine is the foundation of civil society”

Werner Herzog

The winery is small and informal working space, it is a very different visit to the larger wineries with shops, restaurants and front of house staff. You may arrive to see pumps in action and hoses over the floor - that’s us making the wine.

General public opening for visits without an appointment.

We have regular open hours through the spring and summer, which will be posted here and updated regularly. During these times you can visit to buy wines by the glass (tasting size and regular) to enjoy in the winery, or on our lovely ‘field with a view’, and bottles to take away. At other times we are only open by appointment or for occasional one-off open-days. See below for any upcoming. If you want an more in-depth guided tasting, book on to a ‘taste and tour’ session.

Open hours and ‘taste and tour’ session for 2024 will be posted here in early 2024.

Other times with an appointment.

If you get in touch (phone or email) we can usually make a mutually convenient arrangement for you to come to the winery to buy wine and have a look round - often the same day if you like. There may be a bottle open for a taste but not guaranteed. I’ll also happily host small group visits, functions and tastings - see below. Call to discuss. 07881 955215

Taste and Tour - regular scheduled

In spring and summer I hold regular scheduled ‘taste and tour’ sessions - generally every other Saturday, £10 a person which you can book on the website ‘Events’ page here. These take a detailed look at winemaking methods and consider how each wine was made. These will be listed on the website in early 2024 for the spring.

Taste and tour - bespoke

If the public session don’t match your needs or schedule I’ll happily organise a bespoke tasting event for your group: up to 10 people in some comfort, 14 at a pinch. Typically I charge between £10 and £15 a head (a minimum charge may apply) depending on the number of wines, number of people, timing of the visit etc. I can also come to you to conduct a tasting - contact me to discuss.

Other Events.

Through the year we run occasional, one-off events such as concerts and food and wine events. Go to the events page for details and booking. If you’ve something you want to put on, call and discuss it.

UPCOMING TASTING MEAL. Chloe’s in Charblury is hosting a tasting meal on May 18th 2024 with matched dishes in Chloe’s inimitable style. Book directly with Chloe. chloescharlburyreservations@gmail.com. @chloescharlbury

Wines Available

In addition to our own wine (see here for what’s currently available), we fill-out the list with a few wines from other small producers. including the legendary Breaky Bottom sparkling. These wines are only available at the winery, not on-line. The Breaky Bottom is only available by the bottle.

Accessibility

Our premises is accessible for people who use wheelchairs, up a slight ramp, and there is parking right in front. However I’m afraid the WC is not easily accessible due to a ‘vestibule’..

The winery is not suitable for young children to run around in as there are a number of hazards. Children are welcome, but please keep them close to hand, or have them play on the field with a guardian while you are inside. As a food and beverage production space I’m afraid dogs (except trained support animals) must remain outside.

Practicalities

We take cash and cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express plus phone based payment apps. Occasionally, if the card machine is out at an event, we will request that you pay via the website or paypal at the time (on our device or yours) - or cash of course.

Plenty of parking on site.

I am happy to discuss supplying restaurants, wine merchants and functions - do contact me if you’re interested..
