Modern English Wine

We make small batches of still wines, using the finest English grapes, crafted with care in stone, oak and steel.

A micro-winery with grand ideas.

We make small batches of wine in our winery in the Cotswold hills - I like to think the view inspires us. We chose methods and vessels (we have oak barrels, stoneware amphora, concrete eggs) that suit the nature of the fruit, and the style of wine it promises to make. Such small quantities mean we can handle the wine gently, and pay individual attention to each barrel, we keep any unnecessary intervention to a minimum. We want to contribute to the story of how wonderful, elegant, serious and drinkable English still wines can be.

The best fruit.

Our grapes come from a few selected vineyards in Essex, primarily the Crouch valley; the growers are meticulous and passionate. We have developed great relationships with these maestros of the soil, and they aim to grow the fruit that best suits the style and quality of wine we’re all aiming for. Essex is now generally held to have the ideal climate in England for growing perfect grapes for cool climate still wines.
